Lawn
Fertilization Service
Feeding your lawn is
the best investment you can make for your lawn. A properly fed
lawn is healthier and less
likely to befall to weeds or disease. We believe that a
properly fed lawn, cut to the right height (about 3 - 3 1/2) inches is the best defense against all pests.
We use only high
quality granular slow release fertilizers. 0ur fertilizers are
covered in a polymer coating that helps the fertilizer break
down slowly and feed your lawn over a period of about 4 weeks.
We never use liquid fertilizers that can burn and leach into
the soil and water table. We believe that while more
expensive, dry granular fertilizers are safer for the
environment and better able to provide a stable controlled
food source for your lawn to make it the best it can be. Many
liquid products blast the lawn with uncontrolled mounts of
nitrogen causing a flush of growth, many times more growth
than the plant is able to support. Then when the lawn is cut,
too much top growth adds up to unnecessary amounts of grass
clippings that smother the lawn and make a big mess.
Many people ask us
about chemicals and pesticides. Following the Integrated Pest
Management plan as outlined by the state of Michigan our
policy is "only as necessary" when using any pesticide.
While they kill the
weeds, they aren't the best things to put on your lawn. We
only spot spray for weeds targeting the pesticide to the pest.
We work and live in our community and we want to promote
practices that are in all of our best interest. We prefer not
to use any pesticides. If you feel the same way, just let us
know. We are happy to feed your lawn to health.
Using our
fertilization service has other benifits as well. We are on
your property about 30 to 35 times per year between 20-25
cuttings, edgings, and spring and fall cleanups. And our staff
can help watch for trouble on your lawn and alert the
applicators for any problems. We also coordinate the lawn
cutting with the fertilization applications so a freshly
fertilized lawn is not immediately cut before the fertilizer
has a chance to work it's way down into the lawn. We are always
looking for practices to help the general health of your lawn.
Many techniques for keeping a lawn healthy do not involve chemicals.
